California bar exam results for July 2023 have been released.
Repeat takers accounted for 32.7% of all candidates who sat for the bar exam.
The overall pass rate was 51.5%, a decrease from 52.4% last year.
The first time taker pass rate was 64.8%.
The repeat-takers pass rate was 24.1%.

Out-of-State ABA Schools – First-Time Takers 69.9%; Repeat Takers 27%
California Accredited (not ABA – First-Time Takers 33.2%; Repeat Takers 15.7%
Unaccredited Fixed Facility – First-Time Takers 14.3%, Repeat Takers 4.8%
Unaccredited Correspondence – First-Time Takers 40%, Repeat Takers 18.8%
Unaccredited Distance Leaning – First-Time Takers 17.4%, Repeat Takers 13.3%
Others – First-Time Takers 25%, Repeat Takers 20.6%
All Applicants – First-Time Takers 64.8%, Repeat Takers 24.1%
